18k gold plated
Our gold plated jewelry is made on a brass base and covered with 18 carat gold at 3 microns without dispersion. This means that we guarantee 3 microns of gold on any part of the jewel. On most of our jewels, we go up to 5 microns of 18 carat gold. Finally, a finish with 24 carat gold is carried out to give a more beautiful shine to the jewels.
The basis: brass
Gold-plated jewelry is fashioned from brass. That is to say an alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This alloy is used in jewelery because it is malleable, hypoallergenic and resistant. Its pretty natural color is close to that of gold. Finally, it is one of the metals that best supports gold plating.
Veneer
The brass is covered by electrolysis (also called electroplating) with a layer of 18 carat gold. Legislation in France imposes a minimum thickness of 3 microns in order to benefit from the gold-plated designation.
925 silver rhodium
The silver jewelry that we offer is made of 925/1000 silver. That is, each gram of metal is made up of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals (mainly copper). Indeed, in its pure form (ie 100%), silver is too soft and cannot be rigid enough to hold in the form of a jewel. It is therefore mixed with other metals. A 925 hallmark is affixed to all our jewelry to guarantee that each creation is in 925/1000 silver.
In order to protect your jewel from the natural oxidation of silver, it is covered with a layer of rhodium (a rare and precious metal) which will guarantee its shine over time and prevent the risk of allergy. Note however, that the jewel is then of a more gray hue than non-rhodium silver.
